Barnhouse Living
Ashland’s BARNHOUSE Mountain Retreat
A weekend getaway at Mouna’s ‘Bad Taste Barnhouse’ was the perfect winter escape to Mt. Ashland.
From Medford it took just under an hour to get to the Barnhouse, and only about a half hour from downtown Ashland. It was a perfect homebase for some great winter activities. We had just missed the Barnhouse being covered in snow by a couple weeks, but could tell it would have been the most perfect place for sledding and only about 20 minutes from Mt. Ashland Ski Area!
The Barnhouse was both quirky and homey, eclectic and rustic. My girls are STILL talking about it a month later! The owner, Mouna, provided an escape into the remoteness of the mountains with such a fun atmosphere. We listened to the expansive collection of records while my girls danced, played Junior Scrabble and I SPY, and sat by the warm fire in the wood burning stove.
This unique three-story, vacation home is filled with so much natural light that brings in the sunshine and allows you to see the stars at night. The views are beautiful of the surrounding nature and endless National Forest Service Land!
My kids loved playing the piano and hanging out in the “Cheetah Room.”
Having the Barnhouse less than an hour away, made the weekend getaway just that less daunting with three little kids. We arrived after dark and Mouna had left all the lights on in the house for us. It looked magical when we drove up! We live in such an incredibly beautiful area, and we absolutely enjoyed exploring a new part of Southern Oregon!
Here are some more pictures of inside the Barnhouse… You could really spend so much time in each room! Full to the brim of trinkets, books, and antiques.
If anyone is interested in checking out Bad Taste BNB (make your own bed & make your own breakfast :)), You can check the listing here on VRBO or at AIRBNB
