South Umpqua Falls with kids

Best waterfall Adventures in Southern Oregon

We FINALLY headed out to South Umpqua Falls after having it on my summer bucket list forever. And it did not disappoint.

There is absolutely no hike to the falls. You drive right up to it, hop out and head down through the shallow (at times like this) water, or there is a trail that leads to the bottom of the falls.

We had our picnic lunch after the long 2 hour drive (which made me incredibly car sick :/), and built up our courage to jump into the freezing cold water!

Tanner, Harper and I were the bravest of all to go down the waterfalls. Yes, Harper! can you believe it?? She has gotten so brave the last few months. She even held frogs! and she use to be scared of ladybugs!!

The waterfalls were beautiful and exhilarating, but this was my favorite part – the shallow pools of water full of frogs, fish, and crawdads.

I can’t even tell you how many frogs and crawdads we caught. We all had a blast. Especially Fitz. Shallow pools of water he could finally splash around in and of course… throw about a billion rocks into

We spent all day at the falls, realizing how wonderful the outdoors is for the body and soul. The kids got a long, shared, played together without any fighting or screaming. It really is God’s Playground, and exploring it is my happy place.

The falls really exceeding our expectations and can’t wait to return! (just may take some time before i can stomach those turns again)
