ASHLAND IN THE FALL

Visiting Southern Oregon WITH your kids? Here are my own family’s favorite Ashland activities in the FALL!

Ashland is an incredible place to visit at any time of the year. Actually, I couldn’t decide whether to tell you to come in the Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter… because each season brings so many different activities and beautiful scenery to the area!

So, I’ve decided to split up our Ashland getaways into 4 posts. 1 post for each season.

Fall is breathtaking in Southern Oregon, especially in Ashland.

We were lucky enough to stay the night at the Ashland Hills Hotel. We stayed in their Junior Suite which suited us perfectly with three small children.

Isn’t the decor AMAZING?! Retro-Modern, timeless, Ashland Hills Hotel blew me away as soon as I walked through their doors (and the cookies didn’t hurt either).

We quickly unloaded our bags for the night which consisted of half my entire house (traveling with kids is no joke), and hurried out to their pool. My kids had been counting down the days till we could go swimming at the hotel, and thank goodness the weather permitted!

After spending time at the pool, we headed out to our first experience with an Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Green Show. We parked at Lithia Park and walked through the fall leaves, and up to where they hold the OSF Green Shows.

FREE Family-Friendly summer performances are put on every Tuesday-Sunday nights at 6:45pm from June through mid October.

After a quick bite to eat at Big Al’s Diner, we headed back to Ashland Hills Hotel. It was well worth staying IN Ashland and not worrying about the drive back home ?

The girls got their own front room to sleep in (on their pull out couch) and the bedroom had more than enough room for baby! We had a balcony and a kitchenette that would be fabulous for a longer stay.

We spent a good portion of our morning at their breakfast. It was fantastic! We had pancakes, warm oatmeal, yogurt, fresh berries and cream… and what mom can complain over not having to cook breakfast? ?

and…we might have gone back for seconds after our morning of tennis.

Ashland Hills Hotel has the most amazing views to play tennis, and they even supply you with rackets and tennis balls! This was my girls first time “playing” Tennis, and probably the most beautiful place to do it.

After tennis, we headed to ScienceWorks to check out their newest exhibit, ‘Zoo In You.’ We have year passes to ScienceWorks, which we LOVE, but you can check it out for $1 the first Sunday of every month!

We also made a stop at the Rogue Valley Growers Market. They have multiple locations during the week, so be sure to check out their site HERE to see when and where their farmer’s market is going on.

We decided to spend the afternoon taking a nature walk through N. Mountain Nature Park. The Nature Center sponsors three annual events: Rogue Valley Earth Day, Bear Creek Salmon Festival and Rogue Valley Bird Day.

I think it’s safe to say that Ashland is more than beautiful in the Fall!

Thank you to Ashland Hills Hotel for being more than accommodating for our KID-FRIENDLY Ashland Getaway.

If you want to check out more FALL events throughout the Rogue Valley, you can see them HERE.

We look forward to exploring more of Ashland in the Winter, and sharing it with all of you!
