Rogue Explorers winter with kids

February in the Rogue

Southern Oregon provided us with quite a great month full of activities and events!

We didn’t even get to half of the events we had marked on the calendar, but enjoyed the month nonetheless ?

February this year was quite a crazy month with lots of sunny days, rainy days, and snowy days! It seemed to fluctuate between mid 30’s to mid 70’s, it was unreal.

We started the month off with an event at Central Point’s Library.

Jackson County Library Services and the Central Point Friends of the Library presented a Fancy Nancy Super-Deluxe Tea Party!

All Children ages 4 and up were cordially invited to a soirée full of games, crafts, stories, little sandwiches, cheese and crackers, and of course Tea (apple juice). It was the best Library event we have been to yet.

Central Point also has the best indoor playground at their McDonald’s! My kids played for hours. They have a toddler area, basketball hoop, and computer games.

at the beginning of the month, the Rogue Valley was covered in snow for a couple of days. One morning before preschool, we took a drive to Oregon Hill’s Park. It was absolutely breathtaking covered in snow.

The Medford Library introduced their newest Sensory Storytime. My kids absolutely loved it. Sensory Storytime is full of action and fun!

We FINALLY tried Puck’s Donuts! On Valentine’s Day we grabbed the heart shaped donuts for the kids. Sooooo good!

Lowe’s has their Build and Grow Kid’s Workshops on the second Saturday of every month. This was our very first time going, and I was so impressed! There was so much room for us to build inside Lowe’s, we will definitely be going again next month.

We also made it to Barnes and Noble’s Storytime. I don’t know what it is, but the moment I walk into a Barnes and Noble, I want to buy every single children’s book in their children’s department.

While the girls have storytime and crafts, the train keeps Fitz nice and occupied ?

We decided to take a drive up through Union Creek, and kept driving all the way up to Crater Lake! We have been wanting to see Crater Lake with the snow, and it did NOT disappoint. We weren’t exactly dressed for the freezing temps, so we hopped out of the car and took a quick look at Crater Lake, and jumped back in! Next year we would love to try snow-shoeing around Crater Lake!

The end of the month we spent the weekend at an amazing, quirky, remote cabin up in Mt. Ashland. I can’t wait to share it for our “Winter in the Rogue” article coming up soon. Here are a few fun pictures from our weekend stay!
